Christmas on Canal Street is a very popular occasion during the month of December with a series of events that celebrate the holiday season in various ways. Spark the Spirit is a family-friendly event that kicks off Christmas on Canal Street with a tree lighting ceremony and live entertainment in the beautiful downtown historic district. During Thanksgiving weekend, visitors can also experience the Christmas Coastal Market on Canal Street by shopping through a wide variety of beautiful gifts and holiday decor handcrafted by local artisans. Live entertainment, face painting and balloon animals will be available and kids will even have the chance to visit Santa, see a mermaid or ride The Party Train Express in the FUN ZONE.

The New Smyrna Beach area also hosts a Holiday Land and Sea Parade. The parade will travel from Canal Street to Flagler Avenue and will include floats, cars, bicycles and motorcycles decorated by local merchants, organizations and residents. There will also be marching bands, dancers, troupes of horses, live music, bead necklaces, candy and Santa! The 29th Annual Holiday Boat Parade will also appear this holiday season and will begin at Menard-May Park in Edgewater, Florida, where boats will travel through the Intracoastal Waterway north, cruising past the Judges’ Stand in Riverside Park, and concluding at the Waterfront LOOP in New Smyrna Beach.

In addition to the many festivities held during the first week of December, the IMAGES Holiday Tour of Homes will present five unique and interesting homes along with the Smyrna Yacht Club decorated for the holidays by area florists. The halls have all been decorated to celebrate the holidays in their own individual style. Norwood’s Eatery and Treehouse Bar will also be hosting their 21st Annual Holiday Food & Wine Festival. The festivities will include live music, wine tastings and more. There will even be a Sunday brunch with a Bloody Mary bar.
