Enterprise Florida and 44 Florida Small Businesses Head to MEDICA

ORLANDO, Fla. (November 8, 2016) – Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI) will again host the largest pavilion of any state at the MEDICA trade fair in Germany next week. Florida’s two-story pavilion will exhibit 22 small and mid-size businesses, and another 22 state companies will exhibit outside the Florida Pavilion. This marks the 29th consecutive year the state will attend the show.

“We are looking forward to another successful trip to the world’s largest medical tradeshow,” said Manny Mencia, Senior Vice President of International Trade & Development for EFI. “MEDICA is the biggest tradeshow we attend annually and the small businesses that exhibit with us have done very well over the years. Additionally, it gives our team a unique opportunity to tell the Florida life sciences story to industry leaders from around the world who gather at this important event.”

MEDICA is the largest medical trade fair worldwide and will be held in Germany from November 14-17 in Düsseldorf. The pavilion will allow companies and organizations to market their medical and healthcare products to an international audience, and demonstrates the innovation and expertise that makes Florida a leader in the life sciences sector.

Sunoptic Technologies from Jacksonville will attend again this year after a successful trip to MEDICA in 2015. “Enterprise Florida’s participation at MEDICA is a key component of our marketing plan,” said David Mutch, Vice President. “As a small business, it would be very difficult to participate on our own. We would never be able to present ourselves in a positive, professional way. The services provided also enable us to have a larger presence.”

“This trade show was extremely helpful to our company in respect to sales, new contacts, establishing new connections with many international companies,” said Alex Teplitsky, President of Kollsut-USA in North Miami Beach, following last year’s show. “We met our goals and will continue to grow and increase employment positions. We received a trade grant from Enterprise Florida which helped us with trade show expenses. Enterprise Florida was very supportive to us personally and professionally throughout this very important event.”

EFI maintains an extensive schedule of overseas trade missions and exhibitions worldwide. In fiscal year 2015-16, Florida small and mid-sized businesses reported more than $911 million in total projected export sales following international missions and trade shows. Last year, EFI provided 129 Target Sector Trade Grants totaling nearly $490,000 to qualified show exhibitors. Those small businesses reported more than $426 million in total expected export sales.
