The Society of the Four Arts announces a blockbuster schedule of events for the 2017-18 season, including two special performances from world-renowned pianist Lang Lang, who is considered one of the biggest “rock stars” of classical music. With more than 500 notable programs, the upcoming season offers some of the best cultural events in South Florida, including: a stunning art exhibition featuring Winston Churchill’s paintings and memorabilia; a second exhibition showcasing internationally acclaimed fashion and paper artist Isabelle de Borgrave; a new series on the architecture, food and art of Cuba with television star and Palm Beach resident Bob Vila; the return of the nationally recognized lecture series “The Founders and Us” and much more.
The Esther B. O’Keeffe Lecture Series, one of the Four Arts’ signature event offerings, returns with Sally Bedell Smith and her new book on Britain’s Prince Charles. Other notable names this season include the Metropolitan Opera’s Peter Gelb, and noted art historian Simon Schama, who is this year’s Esther Elson Memorial Lecture on Art. New this year, the Four Arts presents a documentary film series that includes a Q&A with special guests from the films being shown. The Children’s Library hosts a new series of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) programs in addition to their robust schedule of story times and school-age programs.
Concert and film times have changed, with evening concerts moving from 8 to 7:30 p.m., and Friday film times changing to two showings at 2:30 and 6 p.m.
